John Howard RE is an award-winning printmaker. He opened his print workshop in January 2007 at an iconic new eco-building at Jubilee Wharf on the Fal estuary in Penryn, Cornwall. John’s vision for the printmaking studio is of a high-quality and vibrant facility offering opportunities for new and experienced printmakers to develop their skills and expertise. He wants to develop the studio as a centre of printmaking excellence in Cornwall.

I began working with John as a technician for workshop courses and when I returned from a residency at Amsterdam's Grafish Atelier (AGA) in 2007 we began to discuss the potential to develop photo-etching at his studio as a means of extending the possibilities for other artists to edition work in Cornwall.

We are now being supported by the Arts Council to do just this and are currently in the first phase of equipping the studio and making our initial tests. Our aim is to be ready to offer the facility to others and to commence editioning in summer 2009.
